My photo
Grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints and Roman Catholic traditions, including a stint at a Catholic school; somewhat sadly, before the point at which young women (people - not the misogynist Mormon class) wore kilts. Attended church until a teen, but held atheist sentiments from a young age, despite being in a family full of believers. This is a place for my thoughts regarding religion on both a personal level and relating to the world, of which I am a member... And Mormons say journals are a good thing :)

Fireside

When I first heard of this, my first thought was something along the lines of "Radical!" (This was a loooong time ago) I, thinking it was a campout, wanted to attend.

Even after being told it was going to be a talk, I still wanted to go, thinking it would somehow be different from all the other boring church talks - which I got through by drawing, reading and taking trips to the washroom which often lead to running down the chapel halls and going into rooms I shouldn't have been in, which occasionally resulted in open corporal punishment (Like I said, this was a long time ago, though I wouldn't be shocked to see such action still accepted in a meetinghouse)

My Mormon parent, older and in this case wiser, decided I should stay home instead.
