My photo
Grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints and Roman Catholic traditions, including a stint at a Catholic school; somewhat sadly, before the point at which young women (people - not the misogynist Mormon class) wore kilts. Attended church until a teen, but held atheist sentiments from a young age, despite being in a family full of believers. This is a place for my thoughts regarding religion on both a personal level and relating to the world, of which I am a member... And Mormons say journals are a good thing :)

Where's the Women?

Peter Preisthood and Molly Mormon are commonly used Mormonisms when defining True Believers, whereas Jack Mormon describes a cultural or ex-Mormon. There is no female equalvilent for the male apostate.

I've read that this may be because while male members are taught to be the leader, leaving those who don't stive to be the best appear bad in comparison, women are able to be at a content medium.

If this is true, I think it's a result of females being pushed to the sidelines or ignored, which is the main reason why there is no female title alongside Jack Mormon; besides, women are supposed to be more spiritual then men (which is why only men 'need' the preisthood!) so they could never forsake their religion.
